As part of our New Supporter Offer, we’re sharing the stories of the people who make Aylesbury United what it is and showing why one visit to the Ducks can become a lifelong connection.

We begin with Andy Martin, Chair of 21st Century Ducks (21CD), an Aylesbury United director and a supporter since the 1996/97 season.

People often ask me why I support Aylesbury United - the Ducks. For me, the answer has always been simple: they’re my local team.

Supporting a club that’s part of your community gives you something real to believe in -something that’s always within reach. It’s about far more than football; it’s about belonging.

My first visit to Buckingham Road, as a teenager during the 1996/97 season, is a memory I’ll never forget. I was completely mesmerised. The standard of football was excellent but what really captured my imagination was the atmosphere.

The singing, chanting and passion from the terraces created an experience unlike anything I had witnessed before. The following season, the addition of drums - both home and away - only added to the occasion. Everyone was united behind the team and I knew straight away that I wanted to be part of it.

It didn’t take long before away games became just as important as home matches. There was something special about travelling with fellow supporters and often making more noise than the home fans. Win, lose or draw, we were there for the Ducks.

Those journeys, full of passion, laughter and post-match debate, created friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

Over the years, I’ve left countless Aylesbury United matches with a hoarse voice - or no voice at all - after 90 minutes of singing and chanting.

Like many supporters, I’ve also had the opportunity to play for both the Chicken Run supporters’ team and Mindset United. Following a successful auction bid, I fulfilled a lifelong ambition by making a cameo appearance for the Ducks in Jack Wood’s testimonial, sharing the pitch with current and former Aylesbury United players. That’s a memory I’ll always treasure.

The years without a permanent home, when every fixture feels like an away game, have only strengthened my connection to the club. If anything, they have highlighted the resilience and determination that define the Ducks.

Through uncertain times, the supporters have never given up. Week after week, people have continued to follow the club wherever it plays, proving that home was never just a stadium.

Home was the people wearing green and white -or amber and black - singing from the terraces and refusing to let the club’s identity be lost. The day Aylesbury United finally returns home will make supporting the club even more special.

One of the things I treasure most is that supporting Aylesbury United has become something passed down through the generations in my family.

Some of my favourite memories are of standing alongside my dad, sharing the highs and lows that football inevitably brings. Those afternoons weren’t just about the match - they were about spending time together, celebrating the victories, laughing off the defeats and creating memories that have stayed with me ever since.

Today, I’m fortunate enough to continue that tradition by watching the Ducks with my daughter. Seeing her experience the same excitement, hear the songs from the terraces and become part of Aylesbury United reminds me why this club means so much.

It’s more than supporting a football team; it’s about sharing something special across generations and creating memories that I hope she’ll cherish just as much as I do.

From that first unforgettable afternoon at Buckingham Road to the responsibilities and opportunities I’ve proudly taken on today, Aylesbury United has become a huge part of my life.

The club has given me so much over the years - friendships, unforgettable memories and the chance to give something back to the community that welcomed me all those years ago.

That’s why I’ll always be proud to support the Ducks.

Because once a Duck, always a Duck.
